Where exactly is the camping area on the camp ground?
There are lots of camp sites in the shaded area under the trees on the main camp ground, you will receive a map at the front gate when you check in. You may set up where ever you are comfortable. The property has the capacity to hold up to 5,000 guests, so make yourself at home in our Village.
Can I just pay for a couple classes?
We do not offer classes ala carte, however we do offer day passes.
I just want to come and watch.....I'm not taking any classes, do I still have to purchase a ticket?
Yes, "watching" what goes on in our African Village is an entertainment in itself!
Is there an ATM on site?
Yes at the front check-in gate!
I live close by and will be going home at night, can I come back the next day?
Absoluely! Come and go as you like, just show your "wrist" bands and parking permit at the gate. If you remove or lose your wrist bands there will be a replacement charge.
I am vending, where do I set up and what are the vending hours?
On the left side of the large pavillion is a "vendors row". There are no specific vending hours. Gates open at 3:00pm on Thursday March 14th and close at 2:00pm on Sunday March 17th. Please, no "vending" from your campsite.
Can I use a recorder Video/Audio?
As many other events similar to ours, we do not allow any video or audio taping. Photos are permitted.
What are the restroom/shower facilities like?
There are 2 hot shower and restroom facilties on site.
Do you have RV hook-ups?
Yes, water and 30 amp electric (there are no 50 amp hookups available) available at $23 per night for 4 persons (extra persons $13/night). For more info: www.sertomayouthranch.com Also there is a dump station for a donation to Sertoma Youth Ranch, it is location south of the restroom/shower facilities.
Is there firewood on site?
Yes, there is fire wood for sale by Sertoma on site or you can bring your own. Please do not cut down the trees on property.
I'm the "driver" or I'm the "babysitter" or I just need to drop something off to my friend......
You may want to coordinate with your party beforehand because it is the policy of Sertoma (and our policy also) that no one is permitted past the entrance gate without the purchase of a pass (wristbands will be checked)
Is there ice for sale on site?
Yes
Do I have to wear the "wrist" band?
Yes, the wrist bands are required to be worn during the entire event by Sertoma Youth Ranch. If you lose your wristband there will be a $8 replacement charge for each.
How far is the parking lot to my campsite?
You are welcome to park your car at your campsite to unload your camping gear. The parking lot is in close proximity to the activities and classes. If you purchased a full event pass, you may park inside the venue. If you purchased a day pass, parking is on the outside of the entrance gate.
Do you have classes for different levels of learning?
Our classes are geared to the guests level in each class. Please feel free to take any class no matter what level, we are confident you will learn something from each class.
What kind of surface is the dance floor?
We are dancing just like they do in an African Village.... on the ground.
Is there a lake on the campsite?
There's no lake in our Village :-)
I don't have a tent and I'd just rather sleep in my car, is that ok?
Sure
Are campfires allowed and if so, where?
Fire rings are scattered all throughout the park, just grab one and move it to your campsite. It's first come, first serve.
Are there tables & chairs available?
Please bring your own "camping" chair for classes, performances and lectures. There are picnic tables throughout the campsite, and you are welcome to move them, however they are first come, first serve.
Do you have RV's for rent at the campsite?
No
I'm flying in for this event and didn't really want to bring my drum on the plane....or I don't have a drum... do you have a drum I could use?
Sure, if you do not have a drum and want to use one of ours, you are welcome to, there may be a minimal fee. Also, there will be African instruments for use in the instrument classes.
Are you going to have drums for sale?
We have vendors with all types of African drums for sale as well as other African instruments, clothes, and other cool stuff!
My child has taken African dance/drum before, can he/she join the adult class?
Youth that are age 6 thru 17 can join the adult classes. We have children's workshops throughout the day for the younger children.
I don't like camping, is there a hotel nearby?
We have partnered with Days Inn Brooksville for a Nightly Rate of $53.66 (tax & fees included)
for up to 4 people. You will have to contact them directly by phone to receive this rate, please see the "Hotel" tab on this website for more info.
Can I bring my dog?
Of course! Dogs on a leash are allowed and they can go anywhere you go except under the covered pavillions & restrooms. PLEASE clean up after your pet. If you have a "grouchy" pet, please leave him/her at home.
Is smoking permitted at the camp?
Yes, there are designated smoking areas available for your convenience. You can smoke anywhere except under the covered pavillions and restrooms. If you are NOT smoking at a designated smoking area, that's ok, but please keep your cigarette butts with you until you find a cigarette receptical. Anyone who disposes of cigarettes on the ground will be asked to leave.
Is beer/alcohol permitted at the camp site?
Sure, you can bring your own beer/alcohol, just please make sure the cans/bottles go into the proper receptacles. Sertoma does NOT permit the SALE of beer/alcohol on the property, however it's ok to consume.
Is there food at the camp?
Yes, we have food vendors, or you may bring your own food and cook at your own campsite.
Do I have to register?
Yes, you can either register electronically on this website or at the entrance gate. Everyone must agree to the camp rules, release of liability and video/photography waiver.
